This swing base is heavy which makes it difficult to install. It is not fully secure (lockable) to the trailer hitch. There is one lock on the tongue (the part that goes into the receiver), but there are two other bolts that attache the SwingBase to the tongue and these bolts can be removed with tools. The Swingbase looks to be very well made in quality of design, function and finish. It is just so heavy.

After looking for a solution to traveling with three dogs, decided to go with this system. Only dogs in back, they are spoiled! As everyone has said, this system is expensive. I won't be going 2 levels, since I don't think the add on is priced correctly. I will be using this for the storage chest and a bike rack (changing out as needed). For Jeep Wrangler JL users, (2019 for me), I have a pretty normal lift and 35 inch tires. This barely works with the 35's if I want to open the trunk. (Rear mounted spare). The door will open about 75% with it swung out. The tire rubs on the top when opening or closing (picture with rubbing on top shows this) but not enough to affect anything. When not using, it will be left at home as expected. Would recommend a 24 mm socket to put on and remove the hitch lock over the wrench. Hope this helps other Jeepers.

I would like to know how could I assemble the swing base if I didn't choose the trailer hook. Is there any compatibility when my Defender doesn't have the Towing Receiver(VPLET0273).
Or I could only modify my car with Towing Receiver to match the EXO system?
